Guest speakers shared expert insights with business leaders from across the region at an event held as part of the build up to next month's Lexus Wrexham Open tennis tournament.
The Business Leaders Breakfast - organised by our tournament team and jointly sponsored by Aiker Wills and Trusts, and Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre - focused on how lessons from the sports field can positively impact businesses.
With the event's theme 'A Competitive Edge', Chris White, Performance Intelligence and Analysis Lead for the Lawn Tennis Association, spoke about how data is used in elite sport, how it can make the difference between winning and losing, and how it can also be applied in the business environment.
The morning included a discussion on how Wrexham's Net World Sports has grown from a back bedroom business to become one of the leading sports retailers in the world.
Felix Bramley, Performance Consultant from 'Will it Make the Boat Go Faster' was the event's keynote speaker. Based on the successful strategies employed by Olympic gold medal winning rowers, Felix and his team help leaders ensure their organisations perform at their best by aligning around a shared strategic goal and embedding the mindset, habits and culture needed to achieve it.
Dave Courteen, the Lexus Wrexham Open promoter, hailed the Business Leaders Breakfast, held for the second time at Wrexham's Ramada Plaza Hotel, as a huge success, with more than 100 guests attending.
He said: "It was a brilliant morning, very successful. There was lots of positivity and a great reaction from everyone who joined us.
"Everybody appreciated Felix Bramley talking about how you can apply an Olympic-style attitude to your business. Sam Williams and Stuart Dean from Net World Sports spoke about the company's background and how they use data to maximise the success of their business, while Chris White gave an interesting insight into some of the data analysis that tennis players rely on to help them with their tactics and the way they play matches.
"The event was all about providing business leaders from across Wrexham and the wider region with the chance to enjoy a series of workshops and presentations, along with networking opportunities, over breakfast as the countdown continues to next month's return of world class women's tennis to the city."
