The Lexus Wrexham Open will return for a third time in 2027 following the outstanding success of this year's World Tennis Tour event.
The UK's biggest women's tennis tournament, outside of the grass court season, will again bring world class tennis to North Wales next October 17-24.
A capacity crowd of 720 watched rising British star Hannah Klugman, 17, crowned champion of the W100 event at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre, while fellow Brits Freya Christie and Eden Silva won the doubles final.
Dave Courteen, the Lexus Wrexham Open promoter, said: "The tournament showcases all that's good about Wrexham and tells another brilliant Wrexham sporting story beyond football.
"It was great to work with the Wrexham Tennis & Padel team again, and we are proud of the event we put on between us, while the partnership between the Welsh Government, Wrexham County Borough Council and Tennis Wales works so well.
They all get fully behind the tournament and it would not have been the success it was without them.
"Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who helped ensure everything ran smoothly throughout the week, and thank you to everyone who came along to watch. Finals day sold out again and ticket sales across the week were eight per cent up on last year.
"Thanks as well to all of our sponsors for their excellent support. Eight sponsors have already committed for next year, such was the success of the tournament, and we are already looking forward to the third Lexus Wrexham Open in October 2027."
The success enjoyed by British players in North Wales added to the feelgood factor around the tournament, with Klugman overcoming fellow Brit Jodie Burrage in the semi-finals, while Alicia Dudeney also enjoyed a good run to the quarter-finals as they relished receiving such strong home support.
Dave added: "We always talk about the Lexus Wrexham Open story and these amazing scripts keep being written. It was a wonderful story last year with Mimi Xu, a Welsh player, winning the tournament.
"It was always going to be difficult to follow that, but given how much stronger this year's field was, Hannah Klugman's victory, having played phenomenal tennis all week, was another brilliant story, and it was fantastic for the home crowd.
"It also rewards the LTA for the investment they put into these tournaments. The Lexus Wrexham Open provides a perfect stepping stone for young British players to climb the world rankings and move their careers on to the next level. We are building a reputation for creating a tournament that enables the British players to perform at their very best."
