One Point To Win £1,000
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to return the serve of a professional tennis player? Ever considered what it is like to play in front of an excited crowd? For 16 local amateur players the One Point Grand will let them find the answers to those questions.
Based on the Australian open version, One Point Slam, where amateur players took on the likes of Alcaraz, Sinner and Gauff, with one of them coming through to win the event, this is the Wrexham version.
A knockout style event will see 16 players from the Lexus Wrexham Open take on 16 local amateurs and celebrities for a winner takes all one-point match. A toss will determine who serves, the pros will get just one serve and the amateurs two. Whoever wins the point goes through to the next round.
It will be two hours of action-packed, nerve-jangling entertainment culminating in one player picking up a cheque for £1,000. Will it be a pro or will an amateur make a name for themselves and land the big prize.
The pro players will be chosen based on their world ranking as well as some wild cards to ensure we have plenty of British players playing. The amateurs will be chosen by a competition across local clubs run throughout the summer. There will also be some wild cards given to local celebrities too.
This will be two hours of high drama and tension. Be part of the atmosphere and enjoy some unique tennis entertainment. There will be music, interviews and big prizes too!
