ITF WORLD TENNIS TOUR ARRIVES IN WREXHAM

Just a wonderful tennis experience!

Get ready for North Wales's first ever experience of world class tennis as the ITF World Tennis Tour arrives in Wrexham! Starting October 19th, we are hosting the Lexus Wrexham Open, the biggest event in womens tennis to be staged in the UK in 2025, outside of the grass court season!

Having been held in Shrewsbury for 17 years, we now have the chance to bring the event to Wrexham making this the biggest womens tennis event in Wales since the Rover Championships in 1996.

The tennis will be held on the indoor court at the Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre, but we are creating Wrexham's very own “sports quarter” with events going on at the University of Wrexham, Wrexham FC, Ramada Plaza Hotel and the player gym being at Total Fitness.

Enjoy an incredible festival of tennis with players ranked in the top 100 in the world competing plus an interactive fan zone, food and live music.

The friendly welcome makes this a “must visit” event for avid tennis fans and casual event enthusiasts alike!

Watch close up some of the top British players of today and the future including 17-year-old Welsh star Mimi Xu who having reached the semi-finals of junior Grand Slams is now breaking through onto the main tour. Mimi will also be defending her doubles title at this event. Last year, Sonay Kartal won the singles title in an all-British final against long-time fans favourite, Heather Watson.

But this isn't just about the Brits. In 2022, Marketa Vondrousova, won the event and went on to become Wimbledon Ladies Singles Champion just nine months later. Our 2023 champion, Viktorija Golubic, was a Billie Jean King Cup winner and an Olympic Silver medallist when she picked up the trophy in front of a sell-out crowd.

With big screen videos and music as part of the indoor stadium experience you are guaranteed a great atmosphere. This festival style tennis event is co-organised by the LTA, Tennis Wales, and promoted by Mosaic Group.

The tournament is part of the LTA's Performance Competitions Calendar, which is designed to provide British players with the chance to develop on home soil through more meaningful playing opportunities, giving all players the widest possible number of competitive matches on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
